Mr. Amik Sherchan is a political leader affiliated with United CPN (Maoist). He is a member of the party's Standing Committee. Prior to joining CPN (Maoist) in January 2009 he was a leader of Janamorcha Nepal. He was elected to the Constituency Assembly in April 2008 from Chitwan.He served as the deputy-Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population from June 11, 2006 until July 23, 2008 in the interim government made up of seven party alliance (SPA) under Girija P Koirala.
